The questions below represent some of the most frequently asked questions that we have received. If you don't find your answer here, please send us a message and let us know if we can specifically answer your question.

1. Is ECHO Membership still free?
Answer: Yes, ECHO continues to provide free services to development workers working with the poor around the world. The new membership options simply allow us to categorize other members and serve their unique needs as effectively as possible.
2. How do I change my member type?

Answer: We want you to get the most out of your membership. There are five membership types:

 

  • Active Development Worker -- Free full privileges membership for qualified development workers. Includes up to 10 Trial packs of seeds free each year. Requests for this member type will be sent to ECHO for review and approval. This is our Most common membership type.
  • Basic -- Free membership with access to online content and ECHO Development Notes by e-mail in one language only. Not eligible for free seed packets.
  • ECHO Staff (Past and Present) -- free membership to past and present staff of ECHO
  • Organization -- $100 for access to ECHO's complete repository of information, resources and networking opportunities. Also includes individual memberships for up to five people.
  • Individual Premium -- $25 for access to online content and ECHO Development Notes by e-mail in various languages, as well as a three year subscription to the paper version of ECHO Development Notes and access to the career center.

 

To change your membership type at any time, simply click on the "membership Info" link inside the "my profile" box on the right hand side of the page. This will bring up a page entitled "Membership Information." Click on the link below that says "Change your membership." If fees apply, you will be prompted to make a payment and agree with ECHO's terms of use.

3. How do I download a document?

Answer: To download a document, you must first find the information you are looking for under the "Publications" tab. ECHO Development Notes is our quarterly agricultural journal with various topics covered in each one. ECHO Technical notes are more in-depth resources on a particular topic. Plant Information Sheets are in-depth documents about a specific plant. Click on the link that you prefer, and you will find a page listing all available articles. To VIEW, click the orange title of the document (note that you will need a pdf reader installed on your computer.) To DOWNLOAD, you should right click the link and select "Save" or "Save Link As." Once the document is downloaded onto your computer, you may print or view at your convenience.

4. How do I order seeds?

Answer: To order seeds, you should navigate to the "Seeds" Tab and select "Seed Order."  This will take you to the "Online Store" where you can select free seeds (for qualified memberships only) as well as purchase seeds from our Seed Bank.  Online store features include:
  • Search the online store for a particular item. (If you don't find what you're looking for, please click "contact us" at the top of the page to inquire with ECHO Seed Bank staff.)
  • Designate your order mailing address.  We will ship your seed order to this address.
