English is the only language to be used in all the plenary sessions and also during the afternoon workshops. [A francophone Forum is offered in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso 27-29 January 2015.]


This ECHO Forum is geared toward enabling networking related to alleviating hunger and poverty by those persons serving Africa’s poor. Three mornings of plenary sessions featuring knowledgeable and experienced speakers will be followed by afternoon workshops and discussion groups led by regional agricultural development workers and experts.


ECHO forums are considered networking opportunities. This means that you, the delegates, are the most important resources. Please don’t be shy about suggesting topics for a practical presentation during the afternoon sessions. At ECHO conferences in other locations around the world, some delegates have discussed a project that has worked well, a “good idea” and why it failed, a promising plant, how they integrate agricultural work with church activities, etc. If you are interested in offering an afternoon workshop (45 min) please contact Mr. GOUBA ALAIN at: agouba@echonet. Evenings will be reserved for individual networking opportunities.

There will be extensive opportunities for networking with fellow forum participants and resource persons.


Post forum tours, to be offered on March 27, are currently being explored and more information will be forthcoming. Our hope is to offer excellent examples of sustainable agriculture, appropriate technology and outreach to the poor through these tours. Forum participants will be asked to sign up for their tour preference during check-in on March 23. An additional fee will apply.


A Resource Fair featuring displays and booths by various development organizations and businesses will be offered. Tables will be provided on which organizational displays can be set up so that posters and promotional materials may be displayed. Additionally, books, booklets, CDs and other types of media may be distributed or sold from these booths. Space can be reserved/purchased with your forum registration. The cost for a resource fair table is $35.


The cost of attending this ECHO West Africa Networking Forum is $180(USD) per person if paid by February 15, 2015. The cost for any payment after February 15 is $200(USD). Please note that spouses of a paying delegate will only be charged $75(USD) or 35,000 CFA. Instructions for payment in US dollars or CFA francs or in Cedis will be provided upon completion of the application.

The forum fees cover:

  • All meetings and information packets
  • Daily lunch and light snacks offered at the Mensvic Grand Hotel
  • Any travel needed for workshops during the forum
  • Round trip airport transportation to the Mensvic Grand Hotel
  • Banquet meal on Thursday evening

The MENSVIC GRAND HOTEL is giving us a special rate so you will have to specify “ECHO Forum” in the subject line to receive the ECHO rate which is: Double room (including breakfast): $ 100 /night.

Hotel Facilities

Please be aware that there is a pool at the MENSVIC GRAND HOTEL so feel free to bring your swimming suit. The MENSVIC GRAND HOTEL also provides free wireless internet. Please note that no childcare facilities or activities will be provided.

Other hotels, guest houses and housing arrangements exist in Accra. If you chose to stay elsewhere, ECHO will not be responsible for your transportation to/from the MENSVIC GRAND HOTEL.


In an effort to keep the costs of this forum down, breakfast and evening meals will not be included as a part of this package. There will be a coffee break each morning so this might compensate for the breakfast. The MENSVIC GRAND HOTEL is located near Accra mall which has a number of dining options available to you within walking distance. A map of restaurants in the area will be made available to you at the Forum. A closing banquet, which is covered in your registration costs, will be offered on Thursday evening immediately following the closing ceremonies.


Registration online is greatly encouraged and will reduce the actual costs to you. However, ECHO understands that credit card payment may not always be possible and will allow for payment in Cedis via bank transfer, direct deposit with our local GHANA ECHO partner (Crossover International Academy) or upon arrival.
